Design as Event: a new preprint on temporal articulation, morphogenetic reorganization, and computational design

A new preprint is now publicly available on Zenodo. This text advances a simple but difficult claim: design should not be reduced to process, sequence, or iterative optimization. Form does not merely arrive. It is constituted through event.

The preprint Design as Event: Temporal Articulation and Morphogenetic Reorganization in Computational Design is now available as a public research document. Its central argument is that computational design remains conceptually limited as long as time is treated as a neutral support for operations rather than as a generative condition of form itself.

The paper proposes a different orientation. Instead of understanding design as the controlled passage from one state to another, it approaches design as event: a temporally constituted reorganization in which admissibility, discontinuity, intensity, and morphogenetic articulation become primary. In this view, form is not simply the outcome of a process. It is a temporal configuration emerging through thresholds, local couplings, directional shifts, and the persistence of structured residues.

The argument moves against the reduction of design to state-space logic, procedural continuity, or mere parametric management. It examines temporal directionality, causal legibility, frame density, energetic distribution, relational voids, and transformational discontinuities as constitutive dimensions of computation. The purpose is not rhetorical provocation. It is disciplinary clarification.

The Deep Morphogenesis Chamber functions here as an instrument-case rather than an illustration. It is used to demonstrate how event-based design logic can be operationalized through weighted admissibility, temporal condensation, articulated rupture, and persistent specimen formation. The broader proposition is clear: if time is treated only as sequencing, design theory remains weaker than the phenomena it claims to organize.

Η νέα προδημοσίευση δεν επιχειρεί απλώς να προσθέσει ακόμη ένα θεωρητικό κείμενο στον ήδη κορεσμένο λόγο περί ψηφιακού σχεδιασμού. Επιχειρεί να μετακινήσει το ίδιο το κέντρο βάρους του προβλήματος. Το κρίσιμο ζήτημα δεν είναι πώς ένα σχήμα μεταβάλλεται βήμα προς βήμα, αλλά πώς συγκροτείται μορφικά όταν ο χρόνος παύει να λειτουργεί ως παθητικό υπόβαθρο και αναλαμβάνει συντακτικό, γενεσιουργό ρόλο.

Εδώ ο σχεδιασμός δεν αντιμετωπίζεται ως διαδικαστική ακολουθία, ούτε ως αθροιστική πρόοδος επάνω σε ένα προϋπάρχον πεδίο καταστάσεων. Αντιμετωπίζεται ως συμβαντική συγκρότηση. Δηλαδή ως τόπος όπου η μορφή αναδύεται μέσα από χρονικές αρθρώσεις, ασυνέχειες, τοπικές συμπυκνώσεις, επιτρεπτότητες, επανασυνδέσεις και ίχνη που διατηρούν ενεργό το πέρασμα της μεταβολής. Η μορφή, υπό αυτό το πρίσμα, δεν είναι τελικό προϊόν. Είναι οργανωμένη χρονικότητα.

Το θεωρητικό διακύβευμα είναι βαθύτερο από μια απλή κριτική του παραμετρικού σχεδιασμού. Εκείνο που τίθεται υπό αμφισβήτηση είναι η ίδια η κυριαρχία μιας λογικής συνέχειας που θεωρεί πως όλα μπορούν να εξηγηθούν ως ομαλή μετάβαση μεταξύ διαδοχικών καταστάσεων. Όμως τα μορφογενετικά φαινόμενα δεν υπακούν πάντοτε σε αυτή τη γραμμικότητα. Υπάρχουν κατώφλια, τομές, ενεργειακές ανακατανομές, ασαφή κενά, ετεροχρονισμοί και πεδία όπου η αιτιότητα δεν εξαφανίζεται, αλλά παύει να είναι απλοϊκά αναγνώσιμη.

Το Deep Morphogenesis Chamber εισάγεται ακριβώς σε αυτό το σημείο, όχι ως εικονογραφική υποστήριξη, αλλά ως οργανολογική δομή διερεύνησης. Εκεί το συμβάν δεν νοείται ως στιγμιαίο εφέ, αλλά ως πειθαρχημένη εκδήλωση διαφοροποίησης μέσα σε ένα πεδίο συνδέσεων, καθυστερήσεων και υπολειμματικών σταθεροποιήσεων. Το ερώτημα δεν είναι απλώς τι βλέπουμε. Το ερώτημα είναι υπό ποιες χρονικές και μορφογενετικές συνθήκες κάτι αποκτά το δικαίωμα να εμφανιστεί ως μορφή.
